Advanced Conversion Technology (ACT) designs and manufactures custom, build-to-print, and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) electronic power supplies for military, industrial, and commercial applications. We are located in Middletown, PA (approx. 4 miles from campus). We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering student to participate in our Internship Program. We require a minimum of 10–15 hours per week and will schedule the hours around your classes.
The student will be working in the Engineering department with the support of a Senior Mechanical Engineer and Engineering Manager, both of whom will be providing mentorship. Below is a partial list of projects on which the student will be working:
• Create thermal models to perform calculations based on power consumption, dissipation and heat transfer of electronic packages
• Create mechanical models to determine survivability under loading conditions
• Assist with designing mechanical components to assist with product development and product changes
• Perform mechanical and thermal analysis to determine if product will meet product requirements and specifications
• Perform lab testing using thermal chamber or other common equipment to obtain and analyze test results
The ideal candidate will be working toward a 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree at an accredited institution, have strong verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational skills, and the ability to multitask. Strong computer skills are required.
This position may require exposure to information which is subject to US export control regulations, i.e. the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
