Department Overview:

The Americas Division (“AD”) was established in the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, New York Branch) (“SMTBNY”) to perform corporate functions and supervise U.S. entities. Established under the AD are the “Global Banking Unit (“GBU”), Americas Division” and “Global Market Unit (“GMU”), Americas Division” which performs business functions. The Market Making Team (“MMM”) is in charge of market making activities in the market, as well as providing the latest market information and a variety of financial services to customers. The Treasury Team (“MTR”) focuses on Funding Activities and Security and Forex Investments. The Treasury Team is divided into the ALM and Investment Accounts. The Front Office Risk Management & Administration Team’s (“MFM”) primary responsibility is to establish and maintain a sound risk management structure regarding compliance and operational risks within the GMU.


Position Overview:

Supports the sound daily operations for GMU focusing supporting derivatives sales, trading, and administrative or technical support. This includes distributing information, creating reports, transaction processing, and maintaining/administering documents. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Support the day-to-day execution of products, operations, and customer-related transactions. Performs the compilation, processing and communication of all market order information.
  2. Cooperates closely with TOPS, FRM, and other relevant departments to enhance Market Making Team operational efficiency.
  3. Prepares tickets and reviews position/performance reports. Assists in the confirmation and input of trades into the front office booking system in a prompt manner.
  4. Liaisons with Head Office (Tokyo) in Japanese regarding queries and administrative issues. 
  5. Assists in developing new strategies to improve or expand business and services to our customers, such as introducing new products to expand our market business.
  6. Abides by all compliance related procedures.
  7. Assists with administrative tasks, various periodic reviews (including system review, FATCA, etc.), customer due diligence and maintenance, maintaining files, and communications with the Head Office.
  8. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in business, finance or economics.
  2. 3-5 years of experience as a trading officer or in bank operations.
  3. Good business mathematical skills with the ability to calculate quickly.
  4. Good PC skills (Microsoft Excel and Word required, Bloomberg and Reuters preferred).
  5. Visual Basic applications knowledge preferred.
  6. Good oral, written and communications skills.
  7. Ability to work in a team environment.
  8. Familiar with GMU’s Procedures manual and Code of Conduct.
