Position Summary
Treeline's Sawmill Millwright uses mechanical, maintenance, and fabrication skills to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the sawmill and related equipment during day-to-day operations. The Sawmill Millwright's primary role is to maintain the sawmill in excellent production condition by developing and utilizing daily maintenance and inspection protocols; leading troubleshooting investigations when needed; and communicating and working with Treeline's Equipment Shop team as needed. The Sawmill Millwright position is cross-trained for all other sawmill-related roles performed by the Sawmill Operator & Tender team and those responsibilities encompass the Sawyer, Front End Loader Operator, and Mat Assembler roles. This allows for maximum efficiency and production of the sawmill, wood processing process, and the Treeline woodyard. The Sawmill Millwright is a professional-minded, equipment-oriented role in an uplifting and positive teamwork environment.
The Sawmill Millwright uses mechanical, hydraulic, welding, electrical, and communication skills to lead the day-to-day maintenance of the Treeline Sawmill and ensure all appropriate team members and outside parties understand the needs of the sawmill. The Sawmill Millwright is part of the Sawmill Operator & Tender team and works closely with the Lumber Sales & Customer Service Person, the Treeline Woodyard, and Treeline's Project Manager ensuring efficient sawmill operation and excellent customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to developing and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Contribute to safety meetings and risk assessment discussions.
- Recognize hazards and manage them effectively.
- Maintain personal safety and watch out for the safety of others.
- Accept and appreciate fellow team members watching out for your safety and offering suggestions or advice.
- Always watch out for fellow team members’ safety and be willing to assist and make suggestions.
- Comply with all OSHA safety guidelines.
- Diagnose and repair/replace various parts/components that have failed or are causing malfunctions related to the mill and the equipment that the mill uses.
- Perform preventative maintenance on a regular basis.
- Recognize potential problems and take corrective actions to prevent failures and down time.
- Track, document, and manage maintenance program.
- Maintain neat, clean, and organized workspace
- Service equipment:
- Grease sawmill and related equipment
- Check and change oils/fluids.
- Weld components necessary for repair of equipment and/or fabrication of components/parts necessary for repair of equipment.
- Perform all paperwork and record keeping duties timely, legibly, and accurately.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Valid Driver's License
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Eligible to work in the US
- 2 years of millwright or closely related experience
Strongly Preferred
- General Equipment Operator Experience
- Joystick Controlled Equipment Experience
- 5 years of millwright experience or closely related experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Possess knowledge of and observe safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure all equipment is made safe for self and others before performing any work-related tasks.
- Apply knowledge of mechanical functioning of various components on the equipment, and make necessary repairs related to the equipment as these problems occur.

- Read and understand service/repair manuals relating to equipment/parts on which would be worked.

Work Environment
- The majority of the time will be inside conditions with protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Some work is outside working conditions with no control over weather conditions.
- There are periodic high noise levels and vibration associated with this job. Sources include: engine noise, air compressors, air powered equipment, and other shop noises. Also, there is possibly sufficient noise, either constant or intermittent to cause possible hearing loss.
- There are a variety of physical hazards in which there is danger to life, health, or bodily injury, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving equipment, heavy parts, electrical shock, engine exhaust, working on elevated equipment, exposure to burns and radiant energy, exposure to explosives (gases) and exposure to toxic chemicals and biological agents.
