SUMMARY
The school is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Physical Education Coach who is passionate about teaching and coaching students across multiple age levels. The ideal candidate will bring energy, creativity, and a strong commitment to student development both in the classroom and on the field. This full-time position includes teaching Physical Education classes and coaching three athletic seasons at the Middle School or Upper School level. Experience coaching Girls' Lacrosse or Girls' Tennis is beneficial, but candidates with related coaching experience will also be considered.
This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. Some evening and weekend work is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Physical Education Instruction:
- Teach five classes per semester, including coaching responsibilities.
- Deliver engaging lessons that build physical literacy and promote healthy, active lifestyles for students in Preschool through Middle School.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement curriculum-aligned lesson plans.
- Assess student growth and achievement using a variety of formal and informal tools throughout the school year.
Athletic Coaching:
- Serve as a coach in all three athletic seasons (Fall, Winter, Spring) at either the Middle or Upper School level.
- Organize and lead practices that promote teamwork, skill development, and sportsmanship.
- Mentor and motivate student-athletes in Grades 7–12 to reach their full potential.
- Represent Greenhill with professionalism and integrity in all athletic settings.
- Partner with the Admission Office in identifying and recruiting prospective student-athletes.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Have successful experience teaching PE and coaching school-aged athletes.
- Demonstrate expertise in coaching Middle or Upper School students.
- Use effective, student-centered instructional strategies.
- Exhibit strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Be a collaborative team player and lifelong learner.
- Embrace professional growth, self-reflection, and feedback.
- Possess a sense of humor, enthusiasm, and flexibility.
- Be CPR, First Aid, and AED certified (or willing to become certified).
Specific Skills and Abilities:
