Grant Thornton is seeking a Business Communications- Associate Director to join the team. Approved office locations can be found below.
Grant Thornton is re-imagining its Communications function to 1) support the business and anchor in the CEO’s and organization’s key priorities; 2) deliver on a global scale with greater efficiency, quality and operational rigor; and 3) broaden the scope of the core team through new capabilities and competencies including M&A, investor relations, issues management, change enablement and tech integration, such as AI tools and other resources.
The Associate Director of Business Communications will serve as a Communications Business Partner and be responsible for the oversight of internal communications across the Americas, and as a part of a multinational team. This individual will deliver outcomes and impact in support of service lines, go-to-market, and other enterprise-wide functions. This position is instrumental in reaching the firm’s internal audiences through strategic planning, messaging and tactical execution and this individual will play a key role in communicating the strategy and values of the firm, with a primary goal of intentionally supporting the culture of the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help drive annual strategic planning for internal communications.
- Provide overall direction for internal storytelling, message delivery, and activating the firm’s brand and culture.
- Develop and manage creative programs and firm messaging that drive employee trust and engagement both internally and externally.
- Provide coaching and heavily collaborate with the multinational communications center of excellence, helping to guide team resources and guarantee quality of written, verbal and multi-channel communications.
- Contribute to the management of key annual internal communications events to engage leaders and teammates.
- Maintain and evolve internal communications metrics across key programs and channels.
- Provide counsel to internal clients and become a trusted advisor on communications matters.
- Enhance communication policies, processes and procedures.
- Ensure a high level of collaboration across the firm’s lines of business.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND IMPACT
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, English or other related major.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as communications professional with current track record of breakthrough internal communications strategy and measurable results.
- Exude confidence in executive settings and be intellectually curious.
Outstanding oral, written, editing, creative and interpersonal skills.
Ability to thrive in a highly matrixed environment and perform under pressure.
Ability to quickly grasp complex subject matter into accessible, useful content.
Track record of social media participation and understanding.
Proven ability to adapt writing style to various online and print materials.
Strong communications research skills, and ability to rapidly research, analyze and integrate diverse information from varied sources.
Tech-savvy and ability to leverage tools and technology to foster efficiencies (e.g., MS Office Suite, Smartsheet, Copilot, other AI).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Professional services experience a plus, though not required.
- Ability to travel as needed.
The base salary range for this position in the firm’s Chicago, IL office only is between $128,000 and $192,000 per year.
The base salary range for this position in the firm’s New York, NY office only is between $138,200 and $207,400 per year
