Plant Yates Compliance Team Leader
JOB SUMMARY
The Compliance Team Leader at Plant Yates will be responsible for leadership, guidance, engagement, performance management, and coordination of work activities in the Compliance, Laboratory and Materials departments. This position ensures full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and laws, including protecting the environment, and the safety and health of employees. The Compliance Team Leader will be responsible for developing and communicating strategic direction for the plant and plant programs, monitoring and reporting in the areas of compliance that include, but not limited to, environmental, OSHA, NERC/ERO compliance, laboratory operations/water chemistry, contractor compliance, and inventory management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or related field
Experience / Knowledge
- Working knowledge of power plants and/or industrial operations and impact to regulatory compliance (gas operations preferred)
- Experience in environmental compliance managing, monitoring, reporting and ensuring adherence to compliance programs in air, land, water, & waste
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, along with a demonstrated ability to display sound judgement
- Experience managing employees to include performance management and providing strategic direction for teams
- Experience in emergency response planning and preparation
- Knowledge of the job selection process, budgeting & accounting principles; safety & health; wastewater systems; inventory management and contract administration

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES
- Ensure the development and implementation of required compliance programs with a clear definition of roles and responsibilities, allocation of resources, training and corrective action strategy
- Report and coordinate compliance-related problems with plant management and corporate support organizations.
- Ensure all ash pond closure and decertification activities are performed in accordance with all local, state, and federal environmental codes and regulations as well as company procedures and guidelines.
- Manage internal and/or external program reviews to ensure compliance.
- Provide timely communications with corporate compliance support organizations as necessary.
- Perform on-call leader responsibilities as scheduled
- Ensure all waste and hazardous materials are removed from the site in accordance with the applicable local, state, and federal regulations and procedures.
- Ensure process safety compliance with all Industrial Hygiene, Process Safety Management and RMP regulation requirements.
- Manage the selection process for plant compliance professionals; oversee the development of annual plant compliance goals; and participate in setting goals and evaluating performance of key plant compliance personnel.
- Develop and communicate strategic direction for functional areas of responsibility
- Ensure up-to-date and effective general procedures.
- Ensure accurate and timely communications with other plant functional teams
- Conduct effective performance management and development for direct reports to include identification of training needs, ensuring efficient and effective staffing and adherence to processes.
