FRD Payroll professionals process, account for, monitor, and design internal controls to safeguard sacred funds and ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.  This position includes a variety of payroll activities including payroll processing; understanding and reviewing insurance billings, deductions, reporting, and reconciliation; understanding withholding requirements and adjustments associated with insurance deductions; payroll laws and church policies regarding benefits and insurance; payroll system functionality and troubleshooting; and employee data management.

Responsibilities

  • Play a significant role in the preparation and oversight of the various aspects of payroll processing
  • Employ skills and knowledge of insurance deductions, wage and tax laws and other common fiscal procedures
  • Work closely and effectively with the payroll team to ensure timely and accurate payroll for a large corporation
  • Cooperate with multiple Church departments and Human Resources and IT professionals to improve the payroll processes and system
  • Report to the Payroll Manager regarding payroll status, costs, volumes, trends, and challenges related to upcoming changes to systems and wage laws in the United States, US Territories, and Canada

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is required – CMA, CPA, or MBA, and or CPP (PayrollOrg) is preferred
  • Eight to ten years of relevant professional experience in payroll, accounting, finance, business management or equivalent is required
  • Demonstrate an understanding of payroll, accounting and finance principles with an ERP system
  • Must have a working knowledge of MS Office (Excel) and be capable of learning new software
  • This is the most senior skill level without direct supervisory experience

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Church employee data management, HR experience, or significant payroll experience with a large organization
