We are looking for a seasoned professional to join our team in Ovar, Portugal!
We are looking for a Finance Manager to ensure accurate, compliant financial reporting in line with IFRS, LGAAP, and tax regulations. This role supports audits, oversees balance sheet and cash flow integrity, and advises stakeholders on accounting matters.
You’ll also support legal entity changes and strengthen internal controls in collaboration with global finance and audit teams.
The role is based in Ovar, Portugal and as a Finance Manager - Portugal, you will be part of Valmet global Operational Finance, Country Finance team.
You will be responsible for
- General ledger accounting and reporting.
- Ensuring completeness, accuracy and compliance of financial statements following effectual reporting requirements, accounting principles and regulations.
- Complying with business related tax obligations, accounting standards (IFRS, LGAAP), and other regulations.
- Providing support on accounting and reporting matters to internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinating and completing annual statutory audit and group audit reviews. Monitoring the progress and findings with selected auditors, Global Finance Operations, and business finance.
- Monitoring correctness of balance sheet and cash flow items from legal entity perspective and take actions with other responsible parties when needed.
- Supporting legal mergers, structural changes, and integrations as needed within country/region.
- Implementing and developing the internal and process control concept in end-to-end processes by working with the Global Finance Operations team and internal audit teams.
What you need to be successful
- Bachelor/Master’s degree, in Finance or Accounting and recognized accounting qualification.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Previous relevant working experience within financial accounting and/or reporting.
- Deep knowledge of local Portuguese accounting principles and standards.
- Fluent English (written and verbal) and excellent communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of MSO.
- Self-motivated drive to fulfill requirements and meet the timelines.
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries.
- Ability to work well under pressure and capability to support others.
