Minimum Requirements:

Completion of post high school Medical Assistant or related program and two (2) years of related experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. Grade 3 (Hourly)

Position Description:

The Medical Assistant III will coordinate patient flow by greeting and interacting with patients, obtaining vital signs, preparing and documenting patient information in the chart, and assisting providers during exams. The Medical Assistant III will also perform or order necessary procedures (EKGs, urinalysis, injections, throat swabs, etc.). This role will also assist in scheduling appointments, obtaining pre-authorizations, referrals, and patient follow-up.  The Medical Assistant III will participate in tracking performance measures and in quality improvement initiatives within the Ryan White grant framework.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites:

  • Greet and escort patients to exam room, obtain vital signs, obtain pertinent social and previous hospitalization history, reconcile medications, follow-up on tasks and contact patients regarding test results as directed by providers.

  • Document patient information in chart. Document pertinent performance measures and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

  • Facilitate patient flow for Ryan White 550 Clinic, including registration, scheduling, and follow-up, and HIV prevention and patient counseling.

  • Perform or order procedures (EKGs, urinalysis, injections, throat swabs) to obtain specimens for testing.

  • Obtain pre-authorizations/pre-certifications, schedule referrals. Follow-up on referral compliance.

  • Stock exam rooms and organize supplies.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
