About the Department
This management position is responsible forrthe activities of the sales tax division of the finance department.
Position Duties
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in designing, writing and running advanced database queries and reports is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
- Administers, budgets, plans, assigns, implements and reviews procedures, protocols and requirements related to the programs as assigned by the department director.
- Monitors work progress to ensure compliance with pre-established objectives and schedules.
- Ensures compliance with borough code for all work, and if required, state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
- Ensures compliance with all departmental requirements associated with department outcomes.
- Monitors departmental program budget, funds and expenditures, including compliance with all applicable standards and requirements.
- Provides department director or immediate supervisor with regular work progress and financial reports, and makes recommendations on future departmental development.
- Ensures record keeping and documentation guidelines are established and followed.
- Coordinates, supervises and performs assigned functions and activities within the department.
- Develops and implements procedures, operations and special projects.
- Supervises staff as assigned.
- Required to attend continuing education management related seminars as assigned.
- Supervises, plans, designs, and coordinates the activities of the sales tax section including preparation and administration of the section's budget.
- Responsible for the supervision of the sales tax personnel including oversight of day-to-day activities, work assignment and administration of any disciplinary action if necessary.
- Assists in the preparation and submission of the annual financial report, budget documents and other comprehensive reports to state and federal agencies, and coordinates activities necessary to accomplish assigned task when appointed as project leader.
- Performs analysis and compiles statistics utilizing research material from a variety of sources to produce comprehensive reports on a variety of subjects.
- Assists in the design, development and implementation of software supporting the sales tax system, as well as development of methods and forms for improving the sales tax system, procedures and sales tax code.
- Represents the borough in frequent contact with individuals from the business community, governmental agencies and professional associations.
- Assists in the development of requests for proposals for contracting with outside agencies to perform sales tax related activities and monitors the work of those agencies.
- Reviews and analyzes reports generated by the activities of the sales tax staff and reviews all requests for adjustments on the sales tax system.
- Compiles letters and notices to the general public on matters relating to sales tax.
- Attends public and departmental meetings concerning sales tax activities.
- Maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts pertaining to sales tax.
- Monitors bank land escrow payments, reconciles to general ledger, and updates forecasts for land sale projections.
- Monitors land lease payments, reconciles to general ledger, and updates working spreadsheet provides to the Land Management Division.
