About the role
Join our Core Product team to build and optimize the data products that power competitive intelligence for building materials manufacturers. As an Analytics Engineer, you'll design scalable data pipelines and analytical solutions that transform 5TB+ of daily raw data into actionable business insights and agentic AI experiences around inventory, pricing, and market dynamics.
Working alongside Data Platform, AI, and Analytics Engineers, you'll collectively deliver across the entire data product development lifecycle - from research through production deployment. This role combines collaboration across engineering disciplines with strategic thinking about retail analytics challenges, offering significant growth opportunities in Analytics Engineering, Platform Engineering, AI Engineering, or Product Management.
Core Responsibilities:
- Design and implement complex data transformations using dbt, SQL, and modern data orchestration tools
- Build scalable analytical solutions that power dashboard, research, and AI-driven experiences
- Collaborate with platform engineers to optimize data architecture for performance and reliability
- Develop data models that translate complex retail inventory and pricing requirements into production systems
- Monitor and maintain data quality across the full product lifecycle from ingestion to delivery
Required Experience:
- 2-5 years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or similar technical roles focused on data transformation and pipeline development
- Strong expertise with SQL, query optimization, and data warehousing platforms (ClickHouse, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Redshift)
- Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools including dbt, with additional experience in Dagster, Prefect, or Airflow preferred.
- Proficiency in notebook environments (Hex, Databricks, Jupyter) for exploratory analysis and prototyping
- Experience across complete data product lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and production monitoring
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on multi-week technical projects with milestone-based delivery
Preferred Experience:
- Advanced expertise with ClickHouse, Snowflake, or other columnar database optimization
- Python scripting capabilities for analytics workflows and data pipeline automation
- Exposure to ML/AI operations and model deployment pipelines
- Retail analytics, inventory management, or pricing strategy domain experience
- Experience in manufacturing, building materials, or supply chain analytics environments
Preferred Locations: New York (Tuesday-Thursday in the NYC office)

Compensation
The base salary average range for this role is $130-150k per year, depending on experience, skills, and alignment with the role's responsibilities. This range reflects our current expectations for a qualified candidate nationally, but we're open to discussing the compensation range further for exceptional candidates working from our NYC office. Total compensation may also include equity, performance bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package.
