About the Role
The Assistant Controller is responsible for providing support to the Financial Controller by participating in the day-to-day financial operations of Indiana Donor Network and affiliates – TxJet, Indiana Donor Network Foundation and Donate Life Indiana. Responsibilities include payroll, accounts payable, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. The position requires a hands-on individual who ensures accurate financial management while maintaining internal controls and delivering exceptional service to internal and external partners. Responsibilities include:
Payroll Management
- Process bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with HR to manage new hires, terminations, and personnel changes.
- Review payroll expenditures, benefits deductions, and employee records.
- Generate payroll-related reports and analyses.
- Maintain payroll systems and ensure secure handling of sensitive data.
Accounts Payable / Receivable
- Review A/P invoices for proper budget allocation and internal coding.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the development, coordination, and management of annual budgeting processes.
- Monitor expenses and budget variances, recommending corrective actions.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Maintain strong internal controls for accounting, payroll, and cash handling.
- Ensure compliance with IRS, Medicare, and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist with tax filings (property taxes, 990s, and 1099s).
Team & Project Leadership
- Support Finance department staff, including training and mentoring.
- Crosstrain and collaborate with team members to build resilience and operational flexibility.
- Position will provide backup support for Controller and other department team members when needed.
This is a salaried position working onsite at our office near 38th and Guion Road.
Who We’re Looking For
Desired education and experience includes:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field is required.
- 5+ years of payroll and finance experience with a strong focus in detailed general ledger work within multi division and/or entity organizations.
- Experience working with ADP, Business Central and Power Bi, preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of word processing, database accounting software, payroll systems (ADP) and Excel is required.
- Knowledge and understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required.
