The Role

The Internship & Job Coordinator is responsible for developing, managing, and supporting internship and employment opportunities for Academy members. This role serves as the bridge between members and employers, ensuring meaningful career development experiences that align with participants’ academic goals, skills, and long-term career interests. The Coordinator will cultivate partnerships with employers, prepare participants for professional experiences, and monitor placements to ensure success for both participants and the organizations.

Primary Responsibilities

Program Coordination & Support

  • Develop and oversee internship, job shadowing, and employment placement programs.
  • Facilitate field trips for Academy cohort members.
  • Maintain a database of employer partners and opportunities.
  • Match participants with internships or job opportunities that align with their skills, goals, and interests.
  • Track participant progress and provide ongoing support during placements.
  • Ensure all compliance, reporting, and documentation requirements are met.
  • Up to 10% travel for each fiscal year. The travel includes local and national college tours.

Employer & Partner Engagement

  • Identify and cultivate partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, and corporations. 
  • Serve as primary liaison with employer partners, ensuring clear communication and mutually beneficial outcomes. 
  • Organize career-related events such as networking sessions, career panels, and site visits.
  • Gather employer feedback to strengthen programming and improve participant preparation.

Participant Development & Support

  • Provide career coaching, résumé reviews, and interview preparation workshops. 
  • Facilitate orientation and training for participants entering internships or jobs.
  • Address challenges that arise during placements and support participants in resolving issues.
  • Assist participants in building long-term career readiness skills.


Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, business, human resources, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in workforce development, career services, internship coordination, or employer relations.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management.
     

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of local labor market trends and employer needs.
  • Event planning or workshop facilitation experience.


Location

This position will be based in Chicago. The position is a hybrid role.  


Compensation

 The Academy Group offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, vision, dental, and 401 (k) coverage.  The position pay range is $70,000 - $90,000.00.
