About the Department

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is a nationally recognized and award winning agency that provides comprehensive planning services, protects natural and cultural resources, and delivers high quality recreational experiences. We serve the vibrant and diverse communities of Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties. We are currently seeking an innovative, energetic, and experienced Recreation/Park Facility Manager III to lead operations at our Fairland Sports & Aquatics Complex, a dynamic multi-sport facility, along with management of two additional tennis bubbles located at Watkins and Cosca Parks. Position Duties

As the Facility Manager, you'll oversee a large, high traffic complex that offers diverse land and water programming including aquatics, gymnastics, tennis, fitness, community events and childcare. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for both strategic planning and daily operations. You will:
• Lead all aspects of a multi-functional, multi-sport complex and two offsite tennis facilities
• Supervise and develop staff across aquatics, gymnastics, tennis, fitness and community programming
• Establish and implement operational goals, procedures, and service standards
• Oversee budgeting, revenue tracking, facility maintenance and capital improvement projects  
• Collaborate with community groups, internal departments, and outside agencies
• Develop marketing strategies and public engagement initiatives
• Identify opportunities to expand and improve programming
• Participate in department-wide initiatives and special projects

• Hiring Range: $73,523 – $103,068 (starting salary based on qualifications and experience; salary range maximum is $132,614)

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Parks Management, Recreation Management, Facilities Management, Education, Business Administration, Physical Education, Communication, Leisure Services, or any related field.
  2. Four (4) years of responsible professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, leisure services, or area of required specialty (e.g., arts, performing arts, equestrian, tennis, aquatics, gymnastics, ice rinks); including two (2) years as a facility manager, program coordinator or supervisor.
  3. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total eight (8) years.
  4. Valid driver’s license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver's license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required of the position.
  5. Contingent upon area of assignment, some positions in this class may require valid: (a) operating license (e.g., county pool operator, childcare license) as appropriate; (b) First Aid, CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED) certifications; or (c) certifications as related to assignment (e.g., Lifeguard Instruction, Fundamentals of Gymnastics, Childcare?).
  6. Pass Commission medical exam.
