Role description:

The Construction Principal, with the support of strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and knowledge of the water and wastewater construction market to successfully win and execute projects, to help build and grow our practice. This is a fully on-site role that will require some travel.

Role accountabilities:

Leadership

To succeed in this role you will need to provide construction leadership through all phases of projects up to and including managing project teams’ daily construction activities, managing contracts, maintaining QA/QC requirements and approaches, while providing clients with regular progress updates. You will be expected to monitor the performance of contractors, overall site safety, subcontractors and suppliers and follow up on and inform the clients of any changes or deviation from plans on a regular basis. You will be expected to:

  • Utilize your expert knowledge of cost trends, change management, claims, and other construction-related matters to ensure overall success of project delivery while maintaining Arcadis’ standards and specifications for project success.
  • Supervise and support the work of others; to include mentoring junior level technical staff.

Project/Client Management

In this role you will be expected to review and coordinate plans for Maintenance of Facility operations including analysis of contractor requests for shutdowns, temporary connections or infrastructure required for the work and leading meetings to discuss key activities; this will include managing and developing scope of work and budgets for various projects as well as providing recommendations and improvements. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Review of Contractor Applications for payment and recommendations for modification/approval.
  • Working with Project / Program Manager to plan, manage, execute, and deliver various engineering projects on time, on budget and to the performance expectations of the client.
  • Act as liaison to design staff for obtaining field information related to the answering of correspondence, RFI's and review of shop drawings.
  • Client Management / Development activities will include managing overall client expectations, supporting project pursuit efforts, and identifying new projects . 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 25 years’ total experience, with a minimum 15 years of construction experience on projects as a Lead/Senior Resident Engineer or Construction Manager. 
  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering or Construction/Management.
  • Experience managing construction budgets and schedules including estimating and change order negotiating.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven excellence with Client Management and Client Development and must have strong communication skills with leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters’ degree in Engineering, Construction or a BS in these fields and an MBA.
  • Previous experience successfully leading project pursuits including both developing proposal approaches and overseeing making presentations to major clients and agencies.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
