Position Overview:
As an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) at OrthoArkansas, you'll be an integral part of a collaborative team, working under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist to provide essential outpatient therapy services. You'll implement customized treatment plans, gather data related to patient progress, and make necessary adjustments to ensure patient safety and comfort. Your role is vital in assisting patients who face medical challenges that impact their ability to move and perform daily activities, ultimately helping them regain function and improve their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan of Care Implementation:
- Implement treatment plans established by the Occupational Therapist, ensuring interventions are tailored to each patient's needs.
- Perform selected modalities and interventions that are part of the patient’s care plan.
2. Documentation and Compliance:
- Accurately document treatment sessions using Athena software, adhering to state and federal regulations.
- Follow OSHA and HIPAA guidelines to ensure compliance with all relevant standards.
3. Clinic Organization and Safety:
- Organize and distribute linen for clinic use, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Keep the clinic organized, free of obstacles, and conducive to effective therapy.
4. Patient Interaction and Care:
- Engage closely with patients, providing hands-on assistance during therapy sessions and addressing sensitive matters with professionalism and empathy.
- Utilize chemical cleaners to sanitize surfaces, equipment, and treatment areas to ensure a safe and clean environment.
5. Team Collaboration and Supervision:
- Develop positive relationships with administrative and medical staff, colleagues, patients, and their families.
- Supervise therapy techs, providing education and training as needed to support their development and the quality of patient care.
6. Additional Duties:
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned to support the smooth functioning of the therapy department.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- Knowledge in a specialized field equivalent to four years in high school, plus additional specialized training equal to two years of college, with 0 to 6 months of related experience or training.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.
- Licensure by the appropriate state board.
Software Skills:
- Intermediate proficiency in word processing, typing, and other relevant software applications.
