Essential Job Functions:
- May supervise Regional Account Managers including: determining workload, delegating assignments, training, monitoring, evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary action
- Takes ownership to ensure annual sales growth with the account
- Initiates, expands and maintains customer relationships at all levels of the customer’s organization
- Establishes and manages strategies, account plans and new product selection
- Oversees the product selection as well as program performance of each category
- Manages all product introductions and changes with the customer to include all customer and company requirements
- Meets regularly with account Merchants to plan and understand account direction
- Takes the lead in developing business plans and presentations relating to annual line reviews
- Works closely with each Merchant to develop program plan o grams to establish the most complete and effective product mix for each area of the country
- Attends all customer sponsored meetings and trainings
- Travels with the customer’s assigned Merchant when required to give direction, input and feedback
- Travels, as needed, to visit stores and obtain field information to give feedback and direction to the customer
- Ensures that all customer service levels are met
- Understands and interacts with all of the customer’s supplier portals
- Develops and approves all annual forecasts
- Works closely with each customer's forecasting team, and company’s forecasting team to ensure accuracy of forecasts
- Reconciles all programs annually and establishes plans to ensure excess and discontinued items are dealt with in an appropriate manner and are kept at acceptable levels
- Provides leadership and direction to the Internal Account Management team member assigned to the account
- Works closely with all support areas of the company (Internal Account Managment, Marketing, Purchasing, Planning, Logistics) to ensure the customer’s expectations and needs are met
- Submits all requested reports and analysis to the Divisional Sales Director
- Conducts sufficient market and product research to stay abreast of where the market/product trends are headed
- Operates within the assigned annual budget
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work well with limited supervision and in a team showing sensitivity, tact, and professionalism
- Ability to interact with upper management to relay customer needs and requirements
- Ability to find, gather, and collect information or data, evaluate information against a set of standards
- Understanding of principles, theories, and practices of sales and marketing
- Observes, measures, and evaluates outcomes against goals and objectives
- Ability to communicate and understand information and ideas clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Ability to facilitate or lead meetings, presentations, trainings, teams, or work groups to encourage participation, build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among participants using acceptable methods and techniques
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong negotiation skills
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university
- Generally, 5+ years of sales and management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Some travel required
- Must possess a valid driver license
