The Culinary Supervisor plays a critical leadership role at Wonderful La Cocina, overseeing the culinary team while supporting operational efficiency, financial performance, and customer engagement. This position focuses on people management and administrative responsibilities, including scheduling, performance management, and compliance, while also monitoring key financial metrics such as labor and food costs. The Culinary Supervisor partners closely with internal teams, Wonderful Logistics Center business tenants, and community members to strengthen customer relationships, expand catering and event opportunities, and grow restaurant sales. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and business-minded culinary professional with a passion for both team development and guest satisfaction.
Job Description:People Leadership & Development
- Supervise, coach, and develop Culinary Associates to ensure team performance, growth, and engagement.
- Responsible for scheduling, timekeeping, and labor management to align staffing with business demands.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and support professional development of Culinary Associates.
- Promote a collaborative, positive, and inclusive workplace culture.
Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Track and manage kitchen-related financial metrics, including labor, food cost, and waste.
- Partner with leadership to forecast needs, control expenses, and propose cost-saving measures.
- Support ordering and vendor management to ensure budget alignment and efficiency.
- Generate reports and insights on kitchen performance, inventory, and sales trends.
Customer Engagement & Partnerships
- Partner with FOH lead to deliver seamless guest experiences.
- Collaborate with customers and internal partners to support catering orders, special events, and custom menu requests.
- Engage directly with customers and Wonderful Logistics Center business tenants to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for repeat business.
- Represent Wonderful La Cocina in fostering positive community and relationships.
Sales & Growth Initiatives
- Collaborate with leadership on strategies to grow sales through catering, special events, and daily service.
- Work with the Service and Culinary Manager to create seasonal offerings and promotions that align with customer preferences.
- Identify and implement operational efficiencies that improve service, reduce costs, and increase profitability.
Compliance & Standards
- Uphold all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations and company policies.
- Support and model high culinary and customer service standards across all levels of the team.
- Minimum 6+ years of progressive culinary experience with advanced cooking and menu execution.
- Minimum 3+ years of leadership experience, including scheduling, people management, and performance management.
- Demonstrated experience with financial oversight, labor management, and food cost control.
- Experience working directly with clients or customers in catering, events, or restaurant partnerships.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with a proven ability to develop, mentor, and motivate teams.
- Skilled in conflict resolution, with the capacity to address challenges promptly, fairly, and constructively.
- Strong understanding of financial management, forecasting, and cost control.
- Proven ability to cultivate customer relationships and build partnerships that drive sales growth.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first approach.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong administrative capabilities.
- Advanced culinary knowledge and expertise in menu execution, with the ability to support and guide team training.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, generate insights, and recommend improvements.
- Flexible, collaborative, and adept at balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Pay Range: $70,000 - $74,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
