The Project Controls Manager leads the delivery of comprehensive project control services, including schedule, cost, and budget management, across multiple projects. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of project data, drives process improvements, and provides strategic insights to support effective construction management and organizational goals.

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Preconstruction and Execution Project Managers and other functional groups to ensure comprehensive and efficient project control needs are met.
  • Coordinate with Execution Project Managers and Controllers to prepare and deliver accurate, realistic, and timely project control reports, including schedule, cost, and budget performance.
  • Lead budget management activities such as forecasting, accruals, and weekly financial snapshots, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Conduct detailed and timely analyses of project performance and variances (OKRs); review and evaluate contractor invoices and change orders, make informed recommendations, and prepare comprehensive reports
  • Support Structured Finance with Tax Equity deliverables, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Oversee the Purchase Requisition (PR) process for all project-related orders, ensuring compliance and accuracy and integrity of SAP project expenditure data.
  • Develop and maintain project dashboards and trackers with precise data, consistent formulas, formatting, links, and tracking requirements.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of project data and SharePoint document management, facilitating seamless information flow.
  • Apply solid understanding of end-to-end project controls (cost, schedule, forecasting, change management) to improve process reliability and reporting accuracy.
  • Analyze performance metrics and provide actionable insights to drive project success.
  • Independently lead review sessions to build alignment and address gaps across departments.
  • Mentor interns and/or associates and manage third-party partners and vendors.

 

Job Requirements and Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project controls, financial analysis, or a related discipline
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Solid understanding of end-to-end project controls (cost, schedule, forecasting, change management)
  • Proficiency with real-time applications and project management software
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Experience mentoring and managing team members and third-party vendors
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
  • Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
  • Experience with scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6; familiarity with spend curve forecasting and schedule-driven cost modeling; and exposure to cross-functional estimating workflows involving engineering, procurement, and finance are all preferred, but not required
  • This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time

 

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $112,000 - $166,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
