About Allens
Allens is a leading international law firm with a proud 200-year heritage of shaping the future for our clients, our people and the communities in which we work. From playing a pioneering role in the development of legislation and regulatory frameworks in the Asian region, to acting on numerous 'firsts' across a range of industry and community issues, it is in our DNA to make a difference and help shape what our world looks like. Our alliance with Linklaters connects our clients and teams with an international network of legal leaders that spans 40 offices in 25 countries.
Our clerkship program has recently been named Australia’s #2 internship (large program) by the Australian Association of Graduate Employers AAGE. We have also been recognised as a top law graduate employer by the AAGE and a top law employer by Prosple and GradConnection and the Australian Financial Review.
We aspire to be the strategic legal adviser clients want to have by their side and people want to work for. Our people go further to support our clients, using sharp commercial insight and creativity to enrich long‑standing relationships and build new ones. And we go further for each other and for our community, working to make ourselves and each other the best we can be. We’re people you want to work with – generous with our time and ready to help. No matter what the future holds, we’re in it together.
Our culture has been central to our success for more than 200 years. It is at the very heart of how we win work, work with one another and partner with our clients as trusted advisors. Allens is inclusive, supportive and collaborative. Respect and integrity are non-negotiable. We balance high performance and wellbeing and value everyone’s contribution across the firm. We show courage and care for others by showing up, stepping up and speaking up.
Together, we're building an inclusive culture that invites, values and celebrates diversity, provides equitable access to resources and opportunities, empowers people to actively engage and contribute, fosters safety and belonging and supports people to do their best work.
First Nations Legal Internship Program
Our First Nations Legal Internship Program has been running since 2006, providing an opportunity for First Nations law students to find out more about working in a commercial legal environment.
The 2026 program will run from Monday, 2 February to Friday, 20 February 2026 in our Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth offices.
Our internship program is a stepping stone to bigger things – previous interns have gone to secure permanent roles at Allens, other firms, client organisations and elsewhere in the profession. Here is a quick rundown of what you can look forward to:
a personalised induction program that introduces you to our people and the work we do;
joining a practice group to work alongside lawyers on real matters, allowing you to develop your legal skills and gain invaluable insight into what we do and the clients we work for;
a dedicated support network consisting of a partner and junior lawyer, who will act as your performance coach and buddy, and will help support you, make the most of your internship, get to know our people and thrive;
the opportunity to get involved in community and pro bono work, and learn about our committees and interest groups;
hear information on various career pathways in the legal industry, including tips on our clerkship recruitment process and what life is like as a graduate at Allens; and
the chance to build your network and forge mentor relationships with our people.
To be eligible for the program, you must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and currently be studying a law degree.
At Allens, our culture is made up of unique backgrounds and varying life experiences. We celebrate our people's differences across gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, cultural backgrounds, First Nations communities, and family and caring arrangements.
Applications will close at 11.55pm (AEDT) on Sunday, 9 November 2025. If you require adjustments to fully participate in our application process, please contact Gemma Feeney at [email protected].
