Hatch has an opportunity for a Lead Civil Designer to join our Highways & Bridges Team based in Brisbane. Reporting to the Principal Civil Engineer, you be working across a number of high-profile road and rail projects, while supporting local teams across the country.
As the successful candidate, you will:
- Lead the geometric design, production and maintenance of technical and engineering drawings using 3D software as required.
- Use knowledge and experience where appropriate to amend/progress the design detail provided by the engineers in order to meet project requirements, standards, industry norms, etc.
- Undertaking self-checking of all drawings against the Quality Management System.
- Attending project meetings and working closely with clients and Hatch management
- Coordinating directly with engineers throughout the design process.
- Ensuring design/drafting deliverables are completed on-time and within the specified project requirements.
- Using the nominated Document Management System and applies appropriate revisioning of documents.
- Interfacing with Hatch Global Project Centres, review the work being generated and undertaking any coordination required
You bring to the role:
- A recognized diploma in civil engineering or equivalent from an accredited college/ TAFE.
- At least 10+ years of experience as a civil designer with 12D. Civil3D or OpenRoads is a bonus.
- Extensive project engineering experience in geometric design, primarily for state-government (TMR) related infrastructure projects such as highways, interchanges, busways, arterial roads, rural roads or rail.
- Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to the project.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
This is a tight-knit team where you will be working next to very experienced infrastructure leaders on local QLD projects in the short to medium term time frames. This is a chance to work with an Ex-TMR Regional Director and grow your experience and knowledge.
Salary will be based on experience. We are open to talking to designers anywhere from 10-25 years of experience as long as they have the initiative and willingness to work on a mix of large and small projects.
