This is a part-time, 10 month position.
Reports to: Director of Special Education
Job Summary:
The File Clerk supports the Special Education Department by maintaining accurate, organized, and confidential student records. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and district regulations special education documentation, including Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), evaluations, and related services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize, file, and maintain electronic records for special education students.
- Upload physical/hard copies of IEPs, Evaluation Reports, NOREPS, and other special education paperwork to the Special Education Database.
- Input and update student data and due dates in district databases and tracking systems.
- Ensure timely filing of IEPs, assessments, parental consent forms, and other required documents.
- Respond to internal and external requests for student records while maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist with archiving and purging records in accordance with retention policies.
- Support department staff with clerical tasks such as copying, scanning, and distributing documents.
- Maintain compliance with FERPA and other applicable privacy laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the department supervisor.

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
- Prior experience in clerical or administrative support required, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry systems.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to reach above and below the waist
- Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
- Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion
- Some bending, stooping and twisting of the body required
- Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 10 lbs.
- Ability to mostly sit with some standing or walking/moving throughout the work environment
Level of Compensation:
This position's salary is determined by the collective bargaining plan for Support Staff. The starting salary for this role is $18.46/hour. After the completion of the 90-day probationary period, this position is eligible for a raise to bring the salary to $18.96/hour. This is a full-time, 10-month position.

- Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, FBI Fingerprinting Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
- Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (Act 168) forms
- School Personnel Health Record and TB Test
