Housatonic Valley Regional High School is a small, close-knit school serving students in grades 9–12 in rural Northwest Connecticut. We are part of the Region One School District and take pride in offering personalized learning experiences in a supportive and collaborative environment. Position Summary:
The Title I Paraprofessional will work closely with the Title I Teacher and high school staff to support students’ academic growth, with a focus on literacy instruction and language development. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of high school-level literacy instruction, data-driven decision-making, and a genuine belief in every student’s potential. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide small-group or one-on-one instruction based on students’ SRBI/MTSS placement (Tier 2: small group, Tier 3: individual support).
- Collect and track student performance data on identified standards, reporting regularly to the Title I Teacher and/or Student Assistance Team (StAT).
- Collaborate with the Title I Teacher to review student progress and develop instructional strategies to enhance learning outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with students, maintaining a positive and growth-oriented mindset that focuses on their ability to succeed.
- Support students in developing productive learning habits, including the application of Habits of Mind strategies.
Work Schedule:
- 35 hours per week for 180 school days.
- Schedule may vary to accommodate after-school sessions with students.
- An additional 10 hours per year available for professional learning activities.
