About Us:

The laboratory of Dr. Jan Vijg is seeking a Research Technician to support ongoing studies on the basic mechanisms of genomic instability and their relationship to aging and disease. The position will involve work with mouse models and mammalian cell culture systems to investigate how genomic instability is generated, manipulated, and assessed in relation to normal cellular and physiological functions.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform molecular biology techniques, including DNA and RNA isolation, quality control, quantification, and sequencing library preparation for Illumina, PacBio, and Oxford Nanopore platforms.
• Conduct mammalian tissue culture experiments.
• Perform mouse husbandry, handling, and related procedures.
• Carry out  molecular cloning of genetic constructs.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized laboratory records.
• Monitor and order laboratory supplies, and contribute to general lab maintenance.
• perform simple or moderately complex technical procedures
• require occasional guidance
• may occasionally be responsible for ordering supplies and equipment for the laboratory
• rarely train or guide other technical personnel.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2- 4.5 years of relevant laboratory experience required.
• Prior experience with mouse husbandry and molecular genetics laboratory techniques preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
