JOB SUMMARY: The Sales Manager is responsible for creating and executing the overall sales strategy for the property.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Answer sales phone calls and follow up to voicemails in timely manner
- Respond to all sales inquiries and follow-up on all customer needs accurately, timely and in a professional manner
- Actively solicit new business based on hotel’s needs (TBD by GM or Sales Leader)
- Proactively sell and conduct tours of meeting and banquet space while providing information on hotel
- Meet or exceed activity goals determined by GM or Sales Leader
- Work with sales personnel to achieve required sales team goals
- Generate correspondence, reports and necessary forms (i.e. contracts, prepare proposals, etc.) as directed
- Effectively communicate with all departments, including any outside vendors, to ensure that the meeting and related functions are executed to exceed the client’s expectations-assist set up, tear down of meeting rooms and/or additional amenities
- Ensure proper and organized setup and tear down of meeting rooms
- Develop strong customer relationships through professional client communication
- Coordinate all details to appear on each "Banquet Event Order." Details to coordinate may include meeting room set-up specifications, banquet food & beverage items, audio/visual equipment & billing details.
- Assist with completing required sales reports
- Assist hotel with implementing hotel specific selling strategies
- Greet contact for each meeting and confirm expectations
- On-site contact during events
- Create signage (reader boards and door cards) specific to each event
- Create post-event evaluations of each event to ensure success in the future
- Build and maintain group blocks including inputting rooming lists when necessary
- Book events as deployed by Sales Leader
- Perform other services and duties as requested by Sale Leader. May be called on to host functions and participate in, or conduct sales blitzes, travel, and work extended hours to achieve departmental goals.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Hotel experience preferred
- Event Management or Hospitality degree is a plus
- Minimum of 1-2 years of hospitality Catering sales and experience within a full-service hotel
- Delphi FDC system knowledge, preferred but not required
- Flexible in being present during events that occur in the evening or during weekends
- Adaptable interpersonal skills to communication and address all employee levels of the hotel
- Professional proficiency of the English language in reading, writing and verbal communication
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record – satisfactory criminal background screening required – professional references
SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITY
This position does not manage other employees
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate, listen, stand for long periods of time, ability to walk, kneel, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Some flexibility of hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during core business hours (generally recognized as 8 am to 5 pm Monday – Friday) expectation is approximately 40 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
