JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Ski Patrol
FLSA: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Ski Patrol Director
SUMMARY: Provides prompt, efficient extrication, medical care and transportation to injured skiers and/or general public in the ski area environment. Promotes good public relations and slope safety to the skiing public. Must meet or exceed the minimum standards set by the National Ski Patrol System for “Basic” Patroller, have a current professional CPR certification, have a current O.E.C. certification card and be proficient advanced/expert skier or boarder.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect all slopes for hazards and correct any problems.
- Responsible for physical set up of ski slope: safety signage, fences, gates, ropes and hazard marking bamboo.
- Must be able to perform all duties as outlined in the Wintergreen Ski Patrol Manual.
- Must follow policies and procedures outlined in the Wintergreen Handbook.
- Must be able to tackle additional tasks and assignments as directed by manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- Must have the ability to work well with the public as well as follow employees and other departments.
- Must have knowledge and understanding of ski area operations.
- Must have knowledge of technical rescue techniques.
- Must have the ability to work well and cooperate with others under difficult or stressful emergency conditions
- Must have own equipment.
- Must meet or exceed the minimum standards set by the National Ski Patrol System for “basic” patroller.
- Must be proficient skier or boarder.
- Must be able to ski all Wintergreen slopes under any conditions.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and public relations skills.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT(S):
- Must have a current professional CPR certification.
- Must have a current O.E.C. certification card.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be physically able to perform demanding manual labor, including but limited to, lifting, digging, pulling, pushing and carrying heavy loads (can be in excess of 100 pounds) for short periods of time.
- Must be able to tolerate long hours in the cold weather and/or extreme conditions
- Must be able to walk outside in winter conditions
