Temporary Full-Time Medical Records Scanner Opportunity at Rapid City Medical Center

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains the confidentiality of the patient medical record.
- Scans and names loose paperwork into the correct folder(s) in electronic medical records.
- Scans and attaches reports to orders or appointments in ECW.
- Names and attaches faxes that are received from the Fax Inbox to correct patient and folder in ECW.
- Review documents scanned for correct patient information and clarity before saving into electronic medical records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: High school degree or equivalent. Must be 18 years or older.
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience working in a medical records department desirable but not required. On the job training is provided.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have good hand-eye coordination to quickly scan files for correct patient’s name and date of birth.
- Knowledge of computer applications.
- Requires ability to communicate effectively with co-workers
- Must be able to work within confines of limited work area.
- Must adapt daily to different job requirements.
- Ability to direct/lead others helping with the scanning.
- Requires a positive attitude toward change within the position requirements.
SKILLS:
- Skills in computer software.
- Skill in typing at least 35 wpm
ABILITIES:
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain courteous and professional working relationship with co-workers.
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously (multi-tasking).
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Office setting is well-light and ventilated.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to walk, stoop, bend, and sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds for short distances.
- Must be able to work with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to concentrate for long periods of time on task at hand.
- When interrupted be able to return to exact documentation without errors.
- Must be able to solve scanning problems with little assistance.
