We are currently looking for an experienced full-time Sushi Cook. Primary duties for this position will be Sushi conceptualization, prep, and production at a fast pace. We are open 7 days a week serving lunch and dinner. Candidates need to be friendly, hardworking, team players, and flexible.

Pay rate:

  • $27 - $32/hr plus a percentage of service charge

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares food orders for guests using prescribed recipes and standards.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including kitchen walk-in coolers and storage room, and upholds the standards of the Washington State Department of Health.
  • Monitors proper par levels of all supplies at assigned stations.
  • Communicates any problems or situations detrimental to property to the Manager or Chef on Duty.
  • When applicable, interacts with guests in a manner that makes them feel comfortable and welcome.
  • Sets up the kitchen for operation: prepare produce, meats, and any food item needed for service.
  • Works in assigned locations and shifts according to business needs.
  • Works with a sense of urgency to meet guests’ demands in a timely fashion.
  • Uses the equipment associated with the position, including but not limited to cookware, dishwashing machines, kitchen monitors, kitchen printers, and POS terminals.
  • Performs any and all other duties as assigned by the company.


Requirements

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of and ability to consistently prepare all food recipes and sub-recipes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests as well as all levels of employees in both verbal and written form in a professional manner.
  • Minimum 3 years experience working as a Sushi Chef.
  • Ability to expedite tickets accurately and timely and read/understand the kitchen monitors or printed tickets, behind the cooks’ line.
  • Must have own personal knives and other small hand tools as part of the uniform, including Maki-su (bamboo rolling mats).
  • Working knowledge of proper cooling and storing practices per health department rules and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to follow directions in a fast-paced environment; manage time effectively and work well in a team environment.
  • Must have at all times during employment, a valid Washington State Health Card and any other government-required cards.
  • A desire to learn, grow, and a passion for progress in this career.

Physical demands and work environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
