The City of Reno is currently accepting applications for various Parks Maintenance part-time positions. These positions allow you to support our parks and natural areas, which are essential for the wellbeing of our community and wildlife. Salaries and hours vary by position and may include evenings, weekends and holidays. Read through the job descriptions and supplemental information below for the details regarding each position. 

Available Positions: 

  • Horticultural Attendant ($16.75–$23.75/hour) (Approximately April–October)
  • Idlewild Train Operator ($16.75–$23.75/hour) (Approximately May–September)
  • Park Maintenance Helper ($16.75–$23.75/hour) (Available year-round)

Position Duties

Horticultural Attendant:

  • Water hanging baskets, planting, weeding in an outdoor environment.
  • Gather and remove garbage and litter from grounds and facilities.
Idlewild Train Operator:
  • Operate and perform basic service of the children’s train and related equipment.
Park Maintenance Helper:
  • Perform a variety of maintenance and repair functions at City parks and related facilities including janitorial maintenance, turf maintenance, landscaping and general groundskeeping duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Horticultural Attendant:

  • Age: 18
  • Experience: One year of paid work experience in similar work
  • Required Certifications: Valid driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent
Idlewild Train Operator:
  • Age: 18
  • Experience: One year of paid work experience in similar work
  • Required Certifications: Valid driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent
Park Maintenance Helper:
  • Age: 18
  • Experience: One year of paid work experience in similar work 
  • Required Certifications: Valid driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent
