Position Summary
Pomerene Hospital is seeking a dynamic and experienced Laboratory Director to lead our clinical laboratory team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of laboratory operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting our mission to provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage daily operations of the clinical laboratory, including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood bank, and phlebotomy services.
- Supervise and support laboratory staff, promoting a collaborative and professional work environment.
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, CIHQ, ODH, and other regulatory agencies.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, staffing schedules, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and administrative leadership to optimize laboratory services.
- Participate in quality assurance and process improvement with the interdisciplinary team.
- Maintain and update laboratory policies, procedures, and quality control programs.
- Oversee equipment maintenance, calibration, and procurement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or related field (required)
- Master’s degree in related field (preferred)
- ASCP or equivalent certification required.
- 5 years of clinical laboratory experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of laboratory regulations, quality assurance, and rural healthcare operations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR).
