Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive athletic programs for all age groups and skill levels.
- Lead and train Athletic Coordinator I-II’s, volunteers, and event staff, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Oversee planning and resource allocation and various athletic assets and their life cycle.
- Assist with the planning and management of large-scale athletic events and tournaments, ensuring seamless execution from planning through post-even evaluation.
- Oversees event logistics, scheduling, staffing, and vendor coordination.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for athletes, coaches, sponsors, and community partners, ensuring positive relationships.
- Ensure all athletic programs and events comply with safety standards, industry regulations, and organizational policies. Assists in development and enforcement of best practices for practice implementation, safety, and risk management.
- Assist in promoting athletic programs, increasing community engagement, participation, and visibility.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to assist in producing promotional materials, social media content, and community outreach improvement.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of programs through feedback, surveys, and performance metrics working with the recreation specialists to provide updates on program success, participation rates, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure athletic facilities and equipment are prepared and ready for programs, events, and trainings. Report any damage to facilities and equipment.
- Address issues that arise during events or programs, providing solutions to ensure a smooth experience for participants and stakeholders. Report issues and challenges and issues to leadership.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications:
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Two (2) years of experience instructing and/or teaching sports/activities, including experience in developing curriculum and coaching/lesson plans; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Licenses and/or Certifications Required:
- CPR and First Aid Certifications are required (which can be obtained at the Recreation Center) or ability to attain within 30 days of hire
- Valid driver's license
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, support staff and other departments/agencies position interacts with.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple programs simultaneously, and solve problems effectively.
- Ability to manage large-scale events and multi-program operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites or similar software
- Familiarity with event management software
- Advanced knowledge of athletic rules, regulations, and safety standards.
- Ability to physically access a variety of event sites and other town facilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Moderate to heavy physical work to include lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials up to 50 pounds
- Ability to exert heavy physical effort and frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, and/or twisting
- Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate tools and electrical equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles
- Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
- Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
- Ability to physically access a variety of event sites
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works both indoors and out, with exposure to all weather conditions
EQUIPMENT USED:
- This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
Must satisfactorily complete a driving record check and criminal background check prior to commencing employment.
