The Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization’s project management practices and methodologies. This position ensures the alignment of projects with business objectives, drives effective project delivery, and provides leadership to the project management team across the organization. The Director of PMO will work closely with senior leadership to prioritize projects, manage resources, and ensure that project goals are achieved within scope, budget, and timelines. 

  • Lead and manage the PMO team, providing mentorship, guidance, and development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define the organization’s strategic project goals and ensure that the PMO's objectives align with overall business strategy.
  • Establish and promote best practices, standards, and methodologies for project management across the organization. 
  • Oversee the entire project portfolio, ensuring proper prioritization, resource allocation, and alignment with strategic business priorities.
  • Develop and maintain a project portfolio dashboard, reporting on key performance metrics, timelines, and budget adherence.
  • Ensure that project management processes are followed consistently, with an emphasis on quality control and effective risk management.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance project management processes, tools, and systems to increase efficiency and improve project delivery.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead the implementation of new practices or tools that support better project outcomes.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with projects, ensuring timely resolution of issues to prevent delays and budget overruns.
  • Facilitate project governance and decision-making processes, ensuring that risks and issues are addressed at appropriate levels.
  • Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, department heads, and project sponsors.
  • Provide regular project updates to leadership and stakeholders, ensuring transparency on project progress, risks, and issues.
  • Champion clear and consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee resource planning and allocation for projects, ensuring optimal utilization of personnel and assets.
  • Work with department heads to manage capacity and ensure that the right skills are available for project success.
  • Manage the PMO budget, ensuring that financial resources are allocated effectively to meet project and business objectives.
  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring that projects remain within financial targets and deliver value.
  • Lead the development and delivery of project management training programs for staff across the organization.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the PMO.



Requirements

  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent certification (PgMP, PMI-ACP, etc.) preferred. 
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of project management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing large-scale, cross-functional projects.
  • Extensive experience in portfolio management, project governance, and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and tools (MS Project, JIRA, etc.).
