Sous Chef presso Creative Dining Services

Creative Dining Services is looking for a Sous Chef in McPherson, KS.

The Sous Chef is responsible for planning and directing food preparation and leading the rest of the kitchen staff in carrying out the day's menu preparation and service. This includes supervision of staff and other administrative duties, ensuring high quality food is being prepared in an efficient and financially responsible manner, and assisting the Food Service Director in managing all areas of the kitchen and cafeteria.

We provide the Central Christian College of Kansas students, staff and guests with delicious, nutritious food and excellent service. The ideal candidate will align with this goal and have strong work ethics, interpersonal skills and time management as well as excellent leadership and foodservice experience.

Typical Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 11:00am to 7:00pm (full time, weekend availability is required)  

Core Responsibilities

• Time food production such that all food is ready at the time of service. 
• Supervise and train staff. 
• Recordkeeping: temperature logs, production sheets and recipes. 
• Produce and maintain prep sheets and duty rosters.
• Keep up with food trends and promotions. 
• Utilize batch cooking techniques to avoid over or under production. 
• If work shift required, properly open and/or close the kitchen/cafeteria. 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: 

• High School diploma or equivalent required 
• Culinary Arts Degree preferred 
• 1 – 3 years cooking experience, supervisory experience preferred 
• ServSafe Certification 
• First Aid training
