The starting pay for this position is between $21.33 and $23.46 an hour, with opportunities for growth up to $29.86 per hour based on long-term growth and performance within the role.

The Public Works Department is dedicated to enhancing the community’s quality of life by managing essential infrastructure and delivering reliable, customer-focused services. It’s five divisions—Engineering & Stormwater, Utilities, Capital Improvements, Streets, and Trash & Recycle—work together to support public safety, environmental health, and the local economy. As part of this team, you’ll help keep operations running efficiently, enabling all five divisions to provide the essential services the community relies on.

Position Duties
Prepare and proofread reports, letters, statistical charts, correspondence, and other documents. Process purchase invoices and purchasing card transactions to support departmental operations. Maintain filing systems, records, and department calendars; coordinate meetings and events with staff, the public, and outside agencies. Attend and assist with meetings by preparing agendas, recording and preparing minutes, and distributing information. Provide customer service in person and by phone, including answering questions, accepting applications or payments, and addressing inquiries. Prepare departmental reports, statistical records, press releases, and legal notices in compliance with legal requirements and departmental guidelines, policies, and procedures. Operate office equipment and software to enter and retrieve data, manage files, and support daily operations. Assist with projects, special assignments, and other departmental tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED equivalent. Three years of increasingly responsible experience in administrative support.
Communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and in conversation. Stay organized and detail-orientated while managing records, calendars, and multiple tasks. Work independently, take initiative, and complete assignments on time. Build positive working relationships and provide helpful, professional customer service. Adapt to new systems, software, and processes while maintain confidentiality and discretion.
