Job Summary:  

The position of Quality Assurance Supervisor supports the Quality Manager by ensuring the quality and food safety of the product are met. Enforces good manufacturing practices of the systems by monitoring and improving the food safety protocols.  The role is designed to provide oversight of QC department personnel and ensure that department policies and products meet company, customer, and regulatory food safety and quality standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Able to perform all requirements of a QC/QA Technician 
  • Provide needed support and representation during food safety audits 
  • Be available for start-up, changeover, pre-op inspection, and ongoing monitoring of production lines 
  • HACCP checks in the processing line, such as monitoring Critical Control Points, and daily reviewing documentation 
  • Analyze Certificates of Analysis (COA) on critical incoming raw ingredients to ensure they meet company quality standards and specifications 
  • Input customer quality data when required 
  • Enforce all GMPs, HACCP, and safety policies where appropriate 
  • Assist in the investigation of customer complaints 
  • Maintain all laboratory equipment in good condition 
  • Process schedules for quality control technicians
  • Verify and approve the quality control technicians' time cards
  • Submit requests for purchase orders of quality control supplies
  • Equipment calibration and inspection 
  • Create and update forms as needed for procedures or protocols
  • Perform internal food safety audits and implement corrective actions 
  • Train new quality control technicians 
  • Monitor technicians’ performance and assign tasks
  • Cover as the food safety representative during the Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager's absence
  • Available to work on special committees (employee safety) when necessary 
  • Perform other duties as necessary 


Requirements

 

  • Meet and exceed all Minimum Requirements plus the following: 
  • Associate's Degree or higher in a science-related field 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the food manufacturing industry 
  • Excellent communication skills, able to speak to and direct groups 
  • Specific food manufacturing training/certifications (HACCP, SQF, PCQI)  
  • Knowledge of the food safety scope. 
  • Demonstrated experience successfully contributing to teams in a dynamic, fast time-to-market, and customer-focused environment 
  • Able to troubleshoot equipment (understand ma 
  • Proven attention to detail, responsible, self-motivated, and independent 
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Flexible schedule based on production needs, including weekends

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to: 

  • Stand and walk for extended periods  
  • Walk on uneven ground and wet or slippery floors 
  • Twisting, turning, kneeling, stooping, and bending most of the day 
  • May be required to lift to 50 lbs. 
  • Exposure to spices (allergens), including but not limited to soy and wheat 
  • Exposure to high noise levels and high-heat environments 

 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Slip-resistant shoes, hair and beard net, safety glasses, earplugs, and gloves are required in the food manufacturing work areas.
