The South COAST Bridging contract supports the Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation’s IT systems in the sustainment of its mission systems and infrastructure to ensure AGO delivers its government and Defence objectives. This positions successful applicant researches, designs, develops, and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software using DEVOPS practice. Involved in the planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards. Evaluates interface between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of overall system. Documents testing and maintenance of system corrections.
About you:
- Relevant work experience (preferably within the defence industry)
- Completed certifications from a Coding School
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Computer Science,
- Software Engineering, Information Systems etc.) from a recognised institution
- Substantial experience in relevant technologies and domains
- Excellent understanding and substantial experience in use of object oriented development methodologies using a documented process
- Excellent Computer literacy with an ability to produce, analyse, and interpret reports and information
- Well developed skills and experience in the use of MS Office and other relevant software packages and applications
- Excellent understanding of DevSecOps methods, tools and techniques
- Substantial experience in an Agile software development team
- Developer technologies: Java, Java Script, REACT, HTML and
- Containerisation technologies
- Database technologies: Oracle, PostgreSQL.
- Cesium JS, Ozone Widget Framework, GitLab, AWS, Kubernetes,
- GDAL, RabbitMQ, Docker, Harbor, Artifactory, BitBucket, CEPH and NiFi
- Documentation and administration technologies: Atlassian suite, Jira, Confluence.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Contribute in software development assignments requiring expert software coding knowledge, experience and application. This can include one or more of the following:
- Undertake software prototyping and investigations
- Undertake software coding and unit testing
- Undertake software documentation
- Correct program errors in existing maintained system
- Contribute and provide input to the assessment of software products
- Perform continuous improvement on customer software as guided by the customer
- Oversee and respond to break /fix Level 2 (back of house) and Level
- Pro-active approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues, and develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships in order to achieve business objectives.
- Ensure the application and fitness/improvement of software and system technical frameworks to the encompassed
- project/system/platform
- nalyse and make decisions on the assessment of tools, software products, procedures, methods and techniques
- Apply and contribute knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter and techniques used
- Undertake decision making based on measurement, forecasting and analysis techniques
- Oversee the management of technical risk and customer relationships
- Coach and mentor staff to develop their skills and capabilities, enabling value add to the business
- Establish innovative solutions to problems of unusual complexity, as well as a wide range of complex problems. Independently determine and develop an approach to solutions that are innovative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organisational objectives.
- Establish guidance, mentoring, and support to Software Development staff as required.
