Noblis is looking for a Machinery Controls Engineer who’s excited to take on challenging, hands-on work in both lab and shipboard environments. If you have a passion for troubleshooting complex technical problems and supporting critical Navy systems, this role will put your skills to work where it matters most.
What You’ll Do
- Work with auxiliary machinery control systems, including PLCs, to support testing and troubleshooting.
- Build and develop land-based test stands that replicate shipboard installations.
- Write, review, and execute test plans and procedures.
- Participate in shipboard inspections and system grooms.
- Review and update technical documentation (including engineering plans).
- Provide engineering support across design, installation, repair, modification, and operations.
- Draft engineering change proposals with drawings, cost estimates, and maintenance/installation steps.
- Oversee specialized testing, including shock, vibration, and EMI.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR a High School Diploma with 7+ years of experience in lieu of degree
- Hands-on experience writing and executing test procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
- Background in Navy shipboard systems, commercial power plants, water treatment facilities, or similar fields is highly valued.
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain (or hold) a DoD Secret clearance.
- Fairmount Automation / Rockwell Controls experience is desired.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.
