TK and Kindergarten Music or Dance Specialist
Part-Time Position – Lang Ranch Elementary School
$18-$25/hour; 5-10hrs/week
Lang Ranch Elementary is seeking a passionate and energetic Music or Dance Specialist to engage our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten students in meaningful, developmentally appropriate arts instruction. This part-time position is perfect for an individual who brings creativity, joy, and a love for the performing arts into the classroom while nurturing our youngest learners through music and/or movement.
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging music or dance lessons for TK and Kindergarten students that promote creativity, self-expression, and foundational skills.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and joyful environment that encourages participation and exploration.
- Incorporate elements of play, rhythm, movement, and storytelling to support early childhood development.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate arts instruction with early learning standards.
- Plan and facilitate informal showcases or performances that celebrate student learning.
- Maintain classroom materials and equipment related to music or dance instruction.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with young children, preferably in an educational or enrichment setting.
- Background in music, dance, early childhood education, or a related field.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with the California Visual and Performing Arts Standards for Music and Dance.
- Ability to play an instrument, lead songs, or choreograph age-appropriate movement routines.
- Experience using arts-based strategies to support social-emotional learning.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or equivalency.
Other Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Fundamental principles, methods and procedures of operating computers and peripheral equipment;
- Fundamentals in classroom behavior management and support; classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct;
- Applicable laws, codes, policies and regulations related to assigned activities.
- Computer hardware systems and software applications utilized by the District.
