Job Summary

To manage personnel and activities of courier and patient transportation to ensure efficient operation of the department. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Supervise in a lead role and provide support to transportation lift techs that assist with the admission, transfer, discharge, lifting, turning, and ambulation of patients as directed by licensed personnel. Weighs patients on admission and as ordered. 

Supervises the transportation of patients to all areas of the hospital including discharge. 

Responsible for monitoring, operation, placement, cleaning, and minor repair of all transportation equipment and provide assistance in the assembly, sanitation, and storage or orthopedic apparatus as directed by licensed personnel. 

Utilize the automated dispatch system appropriately. 

Responsible for acting as an official representative of the medical center in the areas of information, confidentiality, courtesy, diplomacy, guest relations and noise control. 

Transportation department trainer for patient handling processes ensuring transportation lift techs are trained on lifting, lateral transfers, and patient movements utilizing safe patient handling devices and equipment.

Anticipate and/or responds to customer needs by offering assistance. Observe patients and visitors in the rooms and hallways.

Attend scheduled meetings, training sessions, and inservices.
