About the Department
This part-time, non-benefited position is responsible for delivering high-quality, hands-on training in construction skills to non-credit learners. The instructor will lead students through practical, skills-based instruction using tools, materials, and equipment commonly used on construction sites. Course delivery will emphasize applied learning in alignment with NCCER curriculum standards, with minimal reliance on lecture-based instruction. The Adjunct Instructor will work closely with department staff and fellow instructors to ensure training is relevant, industry-aligned, and responsive to the needs of adult learners and workforce partners.
Compensation: $850 per 16 hours of instruction.
Priority Screening Date: Position is open until filled.
Starting Date: As soon as practical after the hiring process. Position filled on an as needed basis.
Position Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: – this position is exempt and is not eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative, other duties may be assigned).
Instructors will be expected to complete the following outcomes in the designated discipline of Non-Credit Technical Training (Construction Trades).

- Prepares and delivers assigned courses by employing high-impact teaching practices in a learning environment that promotes respect and rapport.

- Promotes learning through the innovative implementation of effective classroom technologies.
- Evaluates student engagement and success through NCCER assessment and Performance Evaluation Outcomes.

- Computers – Knowledge of operation of computers
- Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent
- Three years of construction trades experience including carpentry, concrete work, etc. OR Journeymen Level License in any of the skilled construction trades
In lieu of the required degree, candidates with equivalent professional experience, industry certifications, or a combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates degree in a skilled construction trade or related field of study from an accredited institution
- Three or more years of training, supervision and/or instructor experience
- Certified NCCER Instructor
