Role:

The purpose of Financial Analyst is to provide financial analysis within Soarion Credit Union to enhance financial decision making. The role is accountable for executing and improving functions of Soarion Credit Union’s Asset Liability Management Program. This requires the role to collaborate and maintain strong relationships with internal and external business partners. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This role does not have supervisory responsibilities. 

Work Location: This is an onsite position. Occasional remote work may be available and is subject to prior approval by management.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Financial Analyst will manage the recurring data needs of Finance and Accounting. In particular,
    • CECL related monthly data loads and quality control and anlaysis
    • ALM quarterly data for Interest Rate Risk, Net Economic Value & Net Interest Income monitoring, analyzing & reporting.  Provide recommendation as to how to stay within policy.
    • Monthly dashboard and committee meeting analytical data reports for ALCO, Product Pricing, Allowance for Loan Loss Lease, Insurance Committee, Finance Committee and Board Reports
  • Responsible for the ongoing maintenance of Accounting and Finance software systems for example SAP Concur, nCino, PowerBI and Axiom.
  • Responsible for the validation and review of the credit union’s CECL model to ensure its integrity, regulatory compliance, assumptions and identify any areas of weakness and provide recommendations to minimize the risk.
  • Responsible for ALM/ALCO-related reporting and analysis, collaborating with the credit union's external consultant to ensure compliance with credit union and regulatory requirements. Create and execute what-if scenarios for future growth opportunities and the impact to the financial statements.
  • Leverage software expertise to develop reporting and analysis aimed at enhancing and automating the financial data collection and reporting procedures in collaboration with data warehouse systems.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas where improvements  and present to senior management.
  • Responsible for identifying and interpreting the financial risks that result from business decisions and presenting findings to management.
  • Prepare month-end management and board reports that are accurate, include clear written communication and completed by established deadlines.
  • Leverage intermediate business/analytical knowledge to participate in discussions with departments to understand, collaborate and develop business case and profitability/expenditure analysis.
  • Responsible for overseeing the analysis, reporting, and strategic support of the credit union’s investment portfolio to include recommendation to maintain liquidity for future growth.
  • Manage collateral pledges and associated reporting for FHLB, Federal Reserve and Corporate Credit Unions. Provide recurring updates to senior management.
  • Manage the process of annual revenue, expense, and capital budgeting and provide variance changes to senior management monthly.
  • Manage annual forecasting and prepare results for senior management monthly and for what-if scenarios.
  • Develop and design financial models to support strategic planning for the credit union. To include but not limited to revenue analysis, financial planning and consolidation, project planning, product pricing,  forecasting models and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Serves and participates as the departmental subject matter expert for cross-departmental projects, overseeing the implementation process including testing, reviewing results, and documenting final processes.
  • Responsible for monitoring current liquidity position and preparing projections for anticipated liquidity needs and providing continuous updates to senior management.
  • Manage Finance and Accounting vendors and ensure compliance with vendor management procedures.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Competency with advanced analytics or data science.
  • Experience in building automated reports within a data warehouse.
  • Advance skills using Microsoft Excel required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with others inside and/outside the organization. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.  Weekend and/or holidays as assigned. 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance,  .
  • Must have at least four years of professional experience in, financial analysis, or investment analysis.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Position is mostly sedentary activity for approximately seven (7) hours per day. Must have the ability to bend, stoop, walk, or climb stairs up to one (1) hour per day. Must have the ability to lift, transfer or move up to 15 lbs. of equipment, supplies, or other materials. 
  • Work Environment: Must be available to work overtime and Saturdays, as needed. Must be bondable.
