JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is part of POET Bioproducts – the POET business responsible for the marketing and logistics for our suite of distillers grains and distillers corn oil products. It is our role at POET Bioproducts to market and transport, as efficiently as possible, our high-quality products from our bioprocessing facilities to our valued customer who happen to be located all over the globe. We use trucks, trains, barges, containers and ocean vessels to make this happen.

As a Market Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing and communicating key financial drivers to the business, preparing and presenting reports to the leadership and commercial teams, and partnering with the business in evaluating opportunities, performing value-added ad-hoc analyses and completing special projects as required.

This is an on-site role located at our headquarters in Sioux Falls, SD. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor, research and analyze the current grain, livestock, and feedstuffs environment to identify potential business initiatives for POET Bioproducts. 

  • Provide and present analysis and risk reports to the POET Bioproducts Commercial Team.

  • Assist in the development of trading strategies in conjunction with overall commercial directional strategies.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams in vetting possible business development opportunities.

  • Build, enhance, and maintain the POET Bioproducts database.

  • Prepare ad hoc strategic analyses as requested by Senior Management.

  • Since we’re all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skills may be put to a lot of other uses!

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

This job may be for you if…

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in a Business, Economics, or a related field.

  • You have at least 3-5 years of experience in analytics or trading in commodities markets.

  • You’re big into analytics and naturally curious. You believe everything can be measured and you’re creative enough to figure out how.

  • You are a strategic thinker. You oftentimes see things that others don’t. You love thinking about what the future could look like.

  • You enjoy solving problems. You have the ability to take on challenging, complex analysis and break it down into something useful and valuable to the business.

  • You communicate effectively. You write well. You speak articulately. You’re comfortable communicating in writing and on the phone. 

  • You like and work well in teams.

  • You are experienced in presentations and data storytelling.

  • You understand commodity supply chains and how shifts in demand impact those supply chains.

  • You are a high-level Microsoft Excel user and are capable of learning some programming.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position operates in an office environment, working at a personal computer where you may sit or stand. Most of our Sioux Falls office workspace consists of an open-concept design intended to promote open communication and collaboration.
