The Veterans & Military-Connected Services Coordinator will report to the Vice President of Student Affairs and will work closely with and service as the primary point person for prospective and current military connected and veteran students at all Bucks campuses. The Veterans & Military-Connected Services Coordinator is responsible for serving students via face-to-face support and guidance, administrative support, and recruitment/retention outreach.
KEY DETAILS
LOCATION: This position will serve on-site, hybrid, and online students and requires flexibility to travel around the county. The Coordinator will also work closely with the Bucks County Office of Veterans Affairs, located in Doylestown, PA.
HOURS: Monday–Friday, part-time, with some evening and occasional weekend hours as required.
GRANT-FUNDED POSITION: This position is funded by Bucks County and is funded until December 2026.
HOURLY RATE: $29/hour, not to exceed 19.5 hours per week.
SPECIFIC VA RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide students with superior customer service as an advocate and advisor throughout the academic cycle. Promote and support Bucks services to include but is not limited to Counseling and Career Services, The Accessibility Office, the Academic Success Center, testing services, advising and transfer services, and enrollment management.
This position will work closely with our Certifying Officials (SCOs) for the undergraduate (credit) programs, and non-credit/continuing education courses.
Maintain and expand knowledge and proficiency with Bucks systems to include all customer relationships and learning management systems.
Support management with creating, coordinating, and providing consistent outreach projects and services. Provide proactive input and creative support at local events to include Open Houses, College/Academic Fairs, and other specialized college and community events.
Oversee applicable office resources and coordinate with management to request support for all IT assets and office supplies as needed. Ensure posted printed marketing materials are current and accurate and displayed attractively and in adherence to military requirements.
Maintain a positive relationship with Bucks academic and student-related departments as well as community-based constituents and stakeholders.
While Bucks will well-staffed and supported in a variety of student and academic affairs departments, this position will provide assistance, as needed, to students that walk in, call, virtually, or email for admissions, registration, financial aid, student account information, testing, and advising & transfer center information.
Work with RADAR (Research, Assessment, Data Analytics & Reporting) to track and analyze relevant department data.
Must attend local and national events, education fairs, conferences (includes annual commencement ceremony, as applicable).
Perform all other duties as assigned and as needed.
SPECIFIC RETURNING ADULTS RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop a recruitment and retention plan for returning adults.
Research and provide support services on campus and in the community for returning adult population.
Provide case management and support for prospective students currently enrolled in a certificate or degree program and served time in a county, state, or federal correctional facility.
Program Support: work with established student support and learning resources departments to provide workshops and training regarding academic success, including but not limited to tutoring by learning specialists in writing, math and Computer Information Systems courses, career development, financial management, life skills, and mentorship.
Social Support: Identification of and assistance with basic needs, and health and wellness resources
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associates degree from an accredited institution of higher learning. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
One (1) year of customer service experience, preferably in higher education.
Outstanding customer service skills with both internal and external customers required.
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, and capable of prioritizing and managing multiple projects and tasks.
Ability to proficiently use MS Office Products.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
One (1) year experience working in a higher education environment, preferably with non- traditional students is preferred.
General knowledge of Bucks practices and procedures.
Experience working with the military or military students, preferably in higher education.
Experience with or knowledge of certifying VA education benefits
Experience using Colleague, Workday. and Microsoft 365.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must have the ability and technical skills to use multiple interfaces proficiently and quickly, to include Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Effective and adept written and verbal communication skills as job responsibilities include regularly reaching out to prospective and current students as well as internal and external stakeholders.
