Are you passionate about a world where everyone goes home safely at the end of each day? Are you skilled at drawing out the real facts from complex business stories? If so, you may be a great addition to our team.
We’re a small team of B2B journalists who work on two quite different brands: Health & Safety International (HSI) and AWE International. While HSI is one of the top brands in the industry, serving daily content to our readers across Europe and the Middle East, AWE is essential reading for scientists in the lab and the field working on environmental projects.
It involves getting to the core of what can often be sensitive issues. This means the role will give you the chance to craft content that makes a real difference to people’s lives – and to work with a lovely, supportive team too.
We’re inviting applications from B2B reporters who want to grow with us. If you’re interested in seeking out original stories, breaking news and uncovering innovative projects, it could be for you. There will be plenty of opportunities to take ownership of a patch, interview experts and attend industry events and, of course, to take advantage of Haymarket’s excellent training program.
Knowledge of the health & safety or environmental monitoring industries would be a bonus but a strong interest in learning the fields is also welcome. This is a hybrid role and would be based in our Twickenham headquarters, though there is the option to work in our Weymouth office if preferred.
Responsibilities:Duties for the Reporter include:
- Sourcing daily news stories and writing several pieces each day
- Sending the daily and weekly bulletins, under the wing of the Editor
- Interviewing key industry people at media or trade events
- Writing long-form articles for the website and print magazine, as required
- Helping the Editor to run the social media channels, and
- Support the Editor in delivering the brand’s strategy.
The ideal candidate would have the following experience and qualities:
- Writing. A strong interest in daily writing to deadlines, including copy that is informative and sometimes technical
- Drive. Eager to take ownership of a patch, build up contacts and relationships
- Accuracy. An eagle eye for detail, as well as for spotting trends and opportunities
- Presence. Must be able to attend events in the UK, and
- Comms. A person who can thrive in a team where people work in different locations
- Qualifications. Relevant qualifications, such as NCTJ or a degree in journalism are preferred, but different backgrounds such as PR or trade communications will be considered, and
- Socials. Excellent grasp of social media strategies and how to maximise reach and a grow audiences.
We are a Disability Confident employer and offer guaranteed interviews to all disabled applicants who meet the above minimum criteria.
To be considered as part of this initiative, please ensure you indicate if you have a disability when applying for the post.
