Essential Functions and Role:

This is a “hands on” production operations role, required to meet USDA, MIOSHA, HACCP, GMP, and Company standards under the supervision the Load and Haul Manager and Assistant Manager.  The main functions include:

  • Overseeing the leadership and management of the processes and associates to meet the needs and expectations of customers, department, and organization. 
  • Making sure that all equipment is in condition to operate properly and safely, and that the work schedule starts on time.
  • Assisting and training new associates.
  • Conducting meetings with associates on changes and other job-related issues. 
  • Making sure that associates are informed and adhere to policies and procedures for USDA, OSHA, and MIOSHA.
  • Teaching and assuring associates are working in a safe and team environment. 
  • Safely driving utility vehicle while hauling loader and transporting crew, to and from Polk St. to farms. 
  • Ensure all Animal Humane expectations and guidelines are being adhered.

Qualifications:

  • Must have 0-1 years of experience in this position.
  • Must have proven leadership skills.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. 
  • Must be able to motivate others, initiate change, and perform with integrity.
  • Must be able to problem solve and assist with resolution. 
  • Must be able to work with little to no daily supervision. 
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to implement all the rules and procedures established by the HACCP program and must be able to work closely with USDA. 
  • Must have attention detail. 
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language. Spanish speaking ability a definite plus. 
  • Must be able to work safely.
  • Must maintain excellent attendance. 
  • Must be able to maintain good records of all production.
  • Must be able to perform other tasks assigned by Manager. 
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able and must wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment required while performing role, including but not limited to; 
  • Protective eye wear
  • Ear plugs
  • Hard hat
  • Hair net
  • Protective coat (clothing protector)
  • Forearm protection
  • Plastic gloves 
  • Cotton gloves
  • Plastic aprons. 
  • Steel Toe / Rubber Footwear 

Physical Qualifications:

  • Must be able to physically perform the essential functions of the role as outlined.  
  • Using fingers, hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders daily.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, and stand for 8 hours or the duration of the shift, sometimes in a wet, cold, or hot environment.
  • Must be able to work inside / outside.
  • Must be able to have good hand-eye coordination and ability to drive safely. 
  • Must be able to handle utility vehicle controls, safely react to road conditions, and manage various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to maintain an upright posture and properly apply pressure to steering wheel and pedals.
