8 a.m. to 5:30 pm Monday- Thursday. 

8 a.m. to 12:00 pm on Friday. 

However, adjustments to schedule or additional hours may be required to complete duties.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Laboratory/Radiology Manager is responsible for coordinating diagnostic imaging and laboratory services within the healthcare system. This role ensures efficient and accurate record-keeping, proper compliance with safety and quality standards, and effective communication between departments, providers, and patients.  Lab and Radiology Manager is also expected to work with members of management, Physicians, and Mid-Level Providers to improve the quality and efficiency of lab and x-ray services. Travel for training related to lab and x-ray policies may be required. The Lab and Radiology Coordinator is involved in continuous Quality Improvement practices and measures as set by Mainline Health Systems, Inc. and in which the practice focus is based on a Patient Centered Medical Home model of care.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Serve as immediate liaison to the needs of lab/radiology staff.
  2. Manage all duties of lab/radiology staff inclusive of:
    1. Collection of viable specimens from the clinic’s patients, performance of all in-house testing, preparation of specimens/records for outside lab procedures, and the recording of lab results.
    2. Ensure proper documentation and timely transmission of lab/x-ray results.
    3. The interaction with patients and clinic healthcare team regarding test availability, collection of specimens, cost effectiveness of tests, etc.
    4. Assist in review and management of all lab/x-ray supply orders for accuracy, cost efficiency and quantity necessary.
    5. Audit, review and sign all laboratory maintenance (PM), temperature logs, quality control (QC) logs, patient testing logs as required.   Review and sign all hematology quality control reports monthly.
    6. The collection of UDS data for report as needed.
    7. The performance of any other necessary duties as assigned by the Director of Laboratory/Radiology to meet the goal of provision of quality primary healthcare services.
  3. Review proficiency testing records.
  4. Participates in Leadership meetings as required. 
  5. Participate as an active member of the QI team, attend monthly QI meetings, and support MHSI in the implementation and sustainability of the Patient Centered Medical Home model of care.
  6. Participates in all Risk Management activities, provide departmental oversight, and report to QI as needed or deemed appropriate.
  7. Willingness to attend and/or complete continuing education related to this position and/or any other topics as deemed necessary to MHSI.
  8. Ensure calibration and calibration verification on all hematology analyzers biannually as required by CLIA and state law.
  9. Perform competency evaluations (laboratory specific) on laboratory staff as required by CLIA and state law.
  10. Participate in ADH radiology inspections and accreditation reviews.
  11. Assist in staff scheduling and after-hours scheduling.
  12. Review and maintain laboratory policy and procedure manuals as required by CLIA and state law.
  13. Review and maintain radiology dosimetry reports as required by ADH and maintain dosimetry accounts to keep accurate with current staff.

 

 

EVALUATION

The evaluation of work performance by the Laboratory/Radiology Manager is ongoing and is performed by the Director of Laboratory/Radiology.  It includes the specific responsibilities of the position description as well as employee attitude and general working behavior. Formal evaluation is normally performed annually but may be initiated at other times by the Director of Laboratory/Radiology.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Completion of approved program of training with a Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Science.
  2. Experience preferred.
  3. Must be qualified in BLS.
  4. Ability to work with staff and patients with warmth and compassion.
  5. Must be able to read and write English fluently.
  6. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift 50 pounds.
  7. Must be able to travel to all clinics for supervision of lab and x-ray technicians. Mileage reimbursement is paid for this travel.
  8. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

SALARY

The salary for this position is negotiable between the employee and the Director of Laboratory/Radiology and is pro-rated to training and experience.
