Description
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented FP&A Senior/Manager to join our team in the Midland, TX area. This role will serve as a key financial business partner to Operations and Sales, providing analytical support to drive data-informed decision-making. The FP&A Manager will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis, and financial reporting across various product lines.
This position requires not only technical financial skills but also the ability to challenge operational assumptions and decisions when needed. The ideal candidate will be able to quickly understand operational drivers, build credibility with stakeholders, and apply sound judgment and objective financial criteria to support or question proposed initiatives.
Requirements
• Partner closely with Operations and Sales to deliver financial insights that support business decisions and improve performance.
• Lead the annual budgeting and monthly/quarterly forecasting processes for assigned product lines, while contributing to company-wide planning efforts.
• Develop and deliver meaningful financial analysis and reporting to key stakeholders, including management dashboards and KPI tracking.
• Conduct variance analysis (acertual vs. forecast) and identify key business drivers and improvement opportunities.
• Challenge operational assumptions when necessary, using a solid understanding of operational dynamics and financial best practices.
• Quickly ramp up on operational workflows and business processes, and apply critical thinking to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities.
• Support the contract management and tendering process, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic and financial goals.
• Work with Operations to identify cost-saving and profitability improvement opportunities, and help implement corrective action plans.
• Collaborate with Operations on inventory optimization and capital project evaluations, ensuring alignment with current activity levels and financial justifications.
• Develop and maintain financial tools, models, and templates to support reporting, forecasting, and decision-making.
• Contribute to and support process improvement initiatives across finance and operations.
• Prepare and support ad hoc analysis and participate in special projects as required.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in finance, with a strong foundation in accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills required (including complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and modeling).
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to distill complex financial data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence non-financial stakeholders.
• Ability to challenge constructively, backed by data and clear business rationale.
• Quick learner with strong business acumen and a desire to understand operational drivers in depth.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Proactive, self-motivated and self-driven, with a strong attention to detail.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools (experience with QAD and Vena is a plus).
• Availability to travel at least 4 days per month as required.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in the manufacturing, services, or energy industry.
• Knowledge of cost accounting and application in an operational setting.
• Proficiency in Power BI, Microsoft Access, or other database tools.
