Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Lab Technician with strong mechanical and instrumentation skills to support research, development, and technical service lab activities. This hands-on role includes lab operating, maintaining, and repairing lab equipment, executing experiments, and contributing to R&D initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates strong teamwork and collaboration skills across functions and disciplines
- Works independently within established procedures, while proactively suggesting process improvements
- May act as a lead or coordinator but does not hold supervisory responsibilities
- Analyzes complex technical problems and delivers solutions where precedent may not exist
- Effectively and efficiently leverages supervisor or mentors
- Documents and summarizes experimental results using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, SFDC, Teams, and Outlook
- Operates and maintains small-scale production and testing equipment (e.g., ovens, furnaces, rheometers, profilometers, microscopes)
- Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical/instrumentation systems used in testing and R&D production, coordinates with vendors for support and maintenance
- Maintains lab inventory and coordinates sample shipments in compliance with DOT regulations
- Acts as a lab leader for safety, promoting best practices and compliance
- Performs SAP transactions for inventory, procurement, and reporting
- Conducts basic statistical analysis using Excel or Minitab
- High school diploma/GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in chemistry or engineering preferred, or combination of experience and education
- Minimum 5 years in laboratory, R&D, manufacturing, QA, or equivalent
- Strong hands-on Laboratory experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with SAP, Minitab, SFDC preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication; excellent documentation skills
- Able to lift/move up to 10 lbs regularly and 50 lbs occasionally
- Knowledge of P&S (packing and shipping) is preferred
- Familiarity with R&D laboratory, manufacturing processes, and industrial standards is a plus
