Mandatory Training: The week of 12/15/2025 (approx. 4 hours)
Season Starts: Saturday, January 10, 2026
Season Ends: Saturday, February 28, 2026

Position Duties

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Leader – Youth Basketball Referee will support the Benicia Parks & Community Services Department by officiating youth basketball games for children ages 4–11. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, positive, and sportsmanlike environment during games while interacting with participants, coaches, and parents.


Applicants must have a solid understanding of basic basketball rules, with prior playing experience strongly desired.

The Youth Basketball program operates Saturdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with staff scheduled for approximately 4+ hours in either a morning or afternoon shift.


 Referees must obtain Standard First Aid and CPR certifications upon hire. The Recreation Leader- Youth Basketball Referee is a mandated reporter position.
