GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for supervising the operations of service within an assigned territory and take necessary corrective action to maintain service in the most effective and efficient manner, in addition to overseeing bus operators in the performance of their daily duties to maintain an efficient and reliable transit system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee essential job duties and responsibilities are required to be performed onsite at the KCATA. (onsite / field / satellite locations)
- Supervises the work of assigned personnel, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Supervises the operation of service within an assigned territory and takes necessary corrective action to maintain service in the most effective and efficient manner.
- Instructs operating personnel in correct schedules and routes while maintaining communication with the radio dispatcher of all activities.
- Investigates, and reports emergency conditions of operations. Coordinates road calls with Maintenance personnel and radio dispatcher.
- Evaluates schedules, conducts counts, recommends modifications, and investigates complaints and accidents within the assigned territory.
- Reports on traffic conditions and recommends modifications.
- Ensures logs and forms are accurately completed and submitted.
- Reroutes buses during street closures and special events.
- Prepares daily and special reports and performs special assignments.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees (1 or more full-time employees) including providing input on hiring/disciplinary actions and work objectives/ effectiveness, performance evaluations, and realigning work as needed.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
- Position has no fiscal responsibility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) to three (3) years of related work experience in transit operations.
- An equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Valid Class B CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with Passenger endorsement and no Air Brake restriction.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
- Will work in a normal office environment. Will sometimes be required to work and/or attend meetings or events in public and at all RideKC locations.
- Position requires a significant amount of time spent in a vehicle with frequent stops entering and exiting the vehicle.
- Varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.
- Abnormal hours are expected and required for specific events and to reach all employees.
TRAVEL
- Frequent daily travel within the metropolitan area is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- This position requires frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards and is generally sedentary. Most work is performed outside or with exposure to risk. Incumbents may be required to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
